Brazil ends Air France Search and Rescue mission
26 days after launching the biggest search and rescue operation in its history, Brazil has officially suspended the search for bodies and parts, stating that no new bodies have been found in nine days.
During Brazilian Air Force and naval mission, a total of 51 bodies were found, 600 aircraft parts were picked along with numerous bags.
“The technical reason that determined the end of the search is the impracticability of sighting survivors or bodies, a primary objective of the operation,” said a communique.
From June 12th to 26th, a period of 15 days, only two bodies were recovered, and the last on the 17th. In the last nine days, no body has been sighted or or any human remains.
The search for black boxes is being continued by vessels from several countries.
