Brave women who endured incest to speak out against cop killer
A man who was out on parole from a life sentence for killing a Surrey RCMP officer has been convicted of sexually assaulting his four sisters and sent to jail for five years.
Now, his brave sisters are planning to come forward to tell the world how John Harvey Miller, their brother, tormented them for years. They plan to be at Langley RCMP detachment on Monday to tell their stories.
Miller was was sentenced to five years in jail after being found guilty of one count of Incest, five counts of Indecent Assault and five counts of Gross Indecency.
The victims came forward in July of 2008 to report the repeated sexual abuse they faced in their family home between 1956 and 1974.
The abuse occurred in the family residence on the Katzie #2 Reserve in Langley, beginning when each girl was four or five and continuing on to their mid-teens.
The abuse ended for the younger sisters in March, 1974 when John Miller shot and killed Surrey RCMP Constable Roger Pierlet. The officer was shot dead during a traffic stop.
John Miller was sentenced to hang, however while he was incarcerated, Canada eliminated the death penalty, changing his sentence to life imprisonment.
John Miller was given day parole in 2004.
“John MILLER’s victims, Kathleen MILLER, Anne Marie McCOTTER, Janet CROCKFORD and Mary MILLER, will be speaking and available for questions,” RCMP announced.
This event will be held on Monday, July 13th, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Langley RCMP detachment located at 22180 48A Avenue.

My strength and prayers are with these women as they speak about the secrets they have kept all these years. As a survivor of incest my heart will be with them on monday. I waited until I was 51 to tell my secret and understand the anguish and shame they have felt.
By speaking out together they will give others courage to come forward . It is terrible he only got 5 years for the lifetime of pain these sisters will endure,
thank you Kathleen, Anne Marie, Janet, and Mary.
Thank you for your courage too. You have our admiration and good wishes for healing.
