RCMP recover pilot’s body from sunken helicopter

RCMP’s dive team has recovered the body of a 35-year-old pilot whose helicopter crashed into the Kootenay River seven kilometres north of Creston, B.C.

The helicopter crashed from unknown causes on July 22.

RCMP said they removed the body from approximately 42-feet deep water. On Friday afternoon, the helicopter, Robinson R-44 four-seater aircraft, was lifted out of the water as well.

The pilot’s name was not released but police said he was from Kelowna.
