The fire on Blackcomb has not been contained. A number of facilities including trails remain closed on Friday. The wildfire management branch, the experts on fire assessment, call this an interface fire, while the company that runs the resort says it is not an interface fire. Two releases from the company said guests were evacuated so air tanker and crew operations were not hindered. A later press release said guest were evacuated before the fire started because of lightening. So the media is still trying to sort out what happened first and whether structures are threatened or not. And if the fire was contained you'd think all facilities would be open, which is not the case.

I'm staying in the pan pacific mountainside. At about the same time this report came out, Pan Pacific told me that the fire was completely contained and that we were safe to stay. And I am staying at the base of Whistler mountain. Do I count as part of the guests that "have been evacuated from Blackcomb and Whistler mountains?"

Response is greatly appreciated.
