BURNABY, B.C. – Concern is building over the safety of 27-year-old Qwame Sabre Mantley who went missing on Sept. 17.

His family has not heard from him since he left their apartment without saying where he was going. A friend has told police he heard from him on Sept. 22 when Mantley called from a pay phone.

“A number of friends have been contacted and only one had received a call from Mantley on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, in the evening from an unknown pay phone,” said Sgt. Jane Baptista.

“Since that time no one has heard from him at all. Mantley has never gone missing before and this is very unusual behaviour for him,” she said.

Mantley is not known to have any health or substance abuse problems, she added. Mantley does not have a vehicle and uses public transit.

He is a black male, 5’10″, 175lbs, with a slim build. He has a shaved head, brown eyes and may have some acne on his face.
