Man shot in the foot outside drug grow operation
Police continue their poster campaign to warn agains injury and death even as a drug shooting was reported in Abbotsford.
ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – Police found a man who had been shot in the foot – but it wasn’t his own doing.
Police in Abbotsford say they were called at 11:30 p.m. to the 34200-block of Harris Road over a report shots fired and found a man lying on the ground.
Ironically, the shooting occurred on the same day as police revealed the second poster to impress upon those lured by gang affiliation that there is serious danger to life and limb from drug crimes.
“Upon arrival police found a male lying on the road adjacent to a residence and property. The male was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his right foot,” Spokesman Const. Ian MacDonald.
“The male was transported to area hospital for treatment of non life- threatening injuries,” he said.
Police searched the area for other potential victims but found a marijuana grow operation inside a house.
“The specific association between the male and the residence has not yet been determined. He has not been cooperative with police in regard to the circumstances surrounding his injury. The male has an extensive history with police,” he said.
“This incident is not believed to be random and it once again illustrates the inherent dangers associated with those involved with drugs at any level.”
Presently the Abbotsford Police Department’s Major Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Unit and Patrol Division are investigating this incident.
