Surrey jaywalker in critical condition

SURREY, B.C. – A truck driver hauling logs may not even be aware he struck a pedestrian who is now in critical condition in hospital.

Sgt. Roger Morrow said the pedestrian was jaywalking across Scott Road and 97 the Avenue when he was struck. The accident happened at 2:55 p.m. on Wednesday.

“From witnesses comments on scene, it appears as though a logging truck loaded with logs was south bound on Scott Rd when a man came in to contact with the vehicle which continued south,” said Morrow.

“It is possible that the truck driver was not even aware of having struck the pedestrian who has been transported to an area hospital in critical condition,” he added.

Police want the trucker to report to police.
