DUNCAN, B.C. – A woman told police she was attacked while walking on the street. But police now say she was attacked inside her own home.

Police initially reported that a woman had told them that she had been attacked while walking along a street on Sept. 25.

An extensive investigation turned up the fact that she was “actually assaulted in a residence on Evans Street by a male who was known to her.”

Duncan RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on Evans Street as a result of the evidence that was gathered during the past two week investigation, said Const. Ed Power.

“As a result of the investigation a 48-year-old male , Russell Alan Court, a resident of Duncan,  has now been charged with the following : Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Sexual Assault.”

Court has been remanded in custody and will make an appearance in court on Oct. 9.
