FBI releases dramatic film of deadly American Samoa Tsunami

AMERICAN SAMOA – The FBI has released dramatic footage of the towering Tsunami that struck the island on Sept. 29.
The footage shows cars swept away like toys in the parking lot of the FBI office which is located in Pago Plaza in the capital Pago Pago.
Charlene Thornton, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Honolulu office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released the footage that was taken by a stationary security camera.
“The video was taken from a stationary security camera at the FBI Resident Agency office on the second floor of Pago Plaza in the American Samoa Village of Pago Pago,” the FBI said.
“Note that the time-stamp on the video is Hawaiian Standard Time, and local time in American Samoa is one hour earlier,” said the FBI.
“Because of its second floor location, the FBI office in American Samoa suffered only minimal damage, and the FBI continues to perform its law enforcement functions,” said Thornton.
