EDMONTON – A woman who opened her door to a stranger found herself facing a nightmare.

Police said the woman was physically restrained, threatened and then sexually assaulted before the suspect left with cash he had robbed from her.

“Just after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, an adult female who was home alone, answered her door after a knock. When she opened the door, a male allegedly forced his way into the home, located at 115 Street and 80 Avenue,” police said.

“ The complainant, who was physically restrained by the large man, was asked for money and complied. She was then ordered to undress and was sexually assaulted. The suspect then fled the home,” police said.

“Individuals need to be vigilant about their personal safety, and secure their homes, as well as not answer the door to strangers when home alone,” says EPS Sexual Assault Section Staff Sgt. Brian Readman.

The suspect is described as a male with dark skin, approximately 6’3” and 230-lbs., in his mid 20s to early 30s. At the time of the assault he was wearing a dark jacket over a grey hoodie with white or beige coloured baggy pants. He also wore a beige and brown coloured bandanna over the lower part of his face.
