Suspicious death probed in Abbotsford house fire

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – Authorities say a house fire that killed an adult person in Abbotsford on Wednesday is considered to be suspicious.

Firemen found the body inside a house in the 4400-block of  Lefeuvre Road when they finally gained access to the home, said Const. Ian MacDonald.

MacDonald said major crime detectives who went to the scene decided to call in members of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

The home in question is not known to police. MacDonald said he checked police files to see if there had been any trouble at the location in the past and found there was nothing to indicate any problems had been encountered at the location.

“The residence would not be classified as a “problem home” for the Abbotsford Police and it has not been associated to gang activity or organized crime,” he said.

Police would not disclose whether the person was male or female.
