VANCOUVER, B.C. – A 36-year-old man suffered a slash wound to his neck during a robbery and had to be helped by passersby as he lay bleeding on the sidewalk.

Vancouver Police spokeswoman Const. Jana McGuinness said the 36-year-old Burnaby man was slashed by a man who demanded his wallet.

The stabbing occurred in the 2800-block of West 4th Avenue.

” The man called 9-1-1 himself after an unknown assailant demanded his wallet and then slashed him in the neck before running off without obtaining anything,” she said.

“The victim was assisted by several people who came upon him while he lay bleeding at a nearby bus stop,” McGuinness said.

“The area was searched by a VPD canine team, but the suspect was not found,” she added.

The suspect is described as a dark skinned male, 20-30 years old, 5′ 09″, 155 lbs, with a thin build. Anyone with information is asked to contact Vancouver Police.

McGuinness said the man’s injury was not severe but there was no status update on his condition.
