Surrey Mountie charged with assault

SURREY, B.C. -  Surrey RCMP officer Const. Imran Saeed has been charged with two counts of assault.

RCMP said Saeed is alleged to have struck two males during an investigation in May 2009.

“A Surrey RCMP officer has been charged with two (2) counts of assault, stemming from an on duty incident in May 2009,” RCMP said.

“Cst. Imran Saeed, a member with about 2 years service at the time, was one of several officers to respond to a 9-1-1 call reporting a domestic disturbance. In June 2009 two males alleged that they were struck by Cst. Saeed during this incident,” RCMP added.

Two simulataneous investigations were launched, including an internal code of conduct review.

 Saeed will make his first court appearance December 8, 2009 at Surrey Provincial Court.

The officer is on administrative duties at this time.
