Van Hove died because of an impaired driver.

LANGLEY, B.C. – Jack Van Hove died because Donna Boisselle was driving with three times the legal limit of booze in her blood.

Boisselle, 45, of Langely, has been sentenced to serve 18 months in jail for the car crash that killed Van Hove on February 22, 2008.

“The call came in just after 9:30 p.m. on February 22, 2008. Two vehicles had collided head on in the 3500-block of 216 Street. Jack Van Hove, who had been driving a Honda Element, was pronounced deceased by BC Ambulance Service. Boisselle had been driving a Toyota Forerunner,” said Cpl. Holly Marks of Langley RCMP.

Marks said Boisselle had been southbound on 216 Street while Van Hove was northbound.

“Both vehicles sustained major damage to the front driver’s side quarter,” she said.

“Boisselle showed symptoms of impairment but had sustained some facial injuries so a warrant to obtain samples of her blood was obtained. Subsequent analysis showed her blood alcohol content to be in excess of three times the legal limit,” Marks said.

Boisselle pleaded guilty to Impaired Driving Causing Death on August 4, 2009. She appeared in Surrey Provincial Court for sentencing.

She got 18 months in jail, 36 months probation from the time of her release, and five year prohibition to drive from the date she is released from custody.
