American shot by RCMP faces charges


SMITHERS, B.C. – An American man shot by RCMP when he dragged a cop following a stop for a stolen vehicle hasĀ  been charged.

Cole Christopher Foos, 25, was charged with one count of possession of stolen property and one count of dangerous driving.

Foos was shot by a Smithers RCMP officer on Nov. 21 when a truck he had stopped for inspection as a suspected stolen vehicle suddenly accelerated.

Police say Foos was attempting to flee. Foos is originally from California and his status in Canada is unknown.

Following the shooting, Foos was transfered to hospital in Vancouver where he was treated and released. He is expected to make a full recovery.
