Hamilton cop charged with domestic violence


HAMILTON, Ontario – A veteran cop has been arrested and charged in connection with domestic violence.

“A five-year member of the Hamilton Police Service was arrested and charged on December 16th, 2009 as a result of an off-duty domestic assault incident,” said a police report.

“The O.P.P. was called to investigate allegations of a domestic assault that occurred in Haldimand County,” Hamilton police said.

Investigators have charged the officer with three counts of Assault. He has been released from custody and will appear in court on January 13th, 2009.

The officer has been suspended from operational duties and will be re-assigned to administrative duties. The name of the officer has not been released as it may identify the victim, said police.
