Suspicious death probed in North Vancouver park
NORTH VANCOUVER – Police say the death of a person whose body was found in a waterfront park in North Vancouver on Boxing Day is suspicious.
A couple walking their dog in the Waterfront Park under the Cathedral sculpture discovered the body at around noon, said Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, IHIT, spokesman Cpl. Dale Carr.
“Upon arrival at the scene patrol officers secured the area and called in the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team to take charge of the investigation.
“At this point investigators are going over the scene with the Lower Mainland District Forensic Investigation Section,” said Carr.
“Investigators have not been able to identify the gender of the person. The investigators are not prepared at this time to release the manner of death. Police are expecting to have additional details regarding the manner of death and the gender after the autopsy on Monday,” he said.
“This death is considered suspicious,” until proven otherwise.
Police expect the portion of the park to be close to the public until sometime on Sunday.
