VANCOUVER - (Update) A man being hunted by police for allegedly leaving a bomb at his father’s house in Vancouver has surrendered to police.
Latest: All charges dropped, cops not even sure there was a bomb.
Mark Trube gave himself up on Thursday morning but police still have not found the car he was driving and cops are warning the public to use caution if the vehicle is spotted.
A whole neighborhood was evacuated on Monday after the bomb was discovered inside a home in the 2000-block of East 45th Avenue. Police successfully detonated the device.
Trube is charged with two counts of uttering threats, one count of possessing explosives with intent to cause bodily harm, and one count of making or possessing explosives, said Vancouver police spokeswoman Const. Jana McGuinness.
“Vancouver Police are now confirming that a suspicious package removed from a home in the 2000 block of E. 45th Ave did contain an unknown explosive substance,” she said at the time.
“ The package was safely removed and dismantled by a VPD explosive Technician around 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 28th.”
“The technician initiated two controlled detonations outside the home before confirming the package was safe,” she said.
Trube, 37, was driving a black 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix with B.C. license plate 964FLK. Police said if you see this vehicle call them.
It would appear cops are worried the vehicle may have explosive in it.
“The 9-1-1 call originated from a family member living in the upper floor of the home in the 2000 block of E. 45th Avenue,” said McGuinness earlier. ” Mark Trube, currently wanted Canada-wide, allegedly uttered threats to members of his family in connection with the suspicious package while he was in the home on Dec. 28th.”
”While Trube is related to the occupants of the upper floor, these people are not under investigation,” she said. “The occupants of the lower floor suite are unrelated to this incident.”
