Two Mission residents die in single vehicle crash

MISSION, B.C. – Two residents of Mission are dead following a single vehicle accident on Lougheed Highway in Deroche.

RCMP spokesman Sgt. Peter Thiessen said the crash killed a 41-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman.

The accident occurred at about 9:25 p.m. near Ross Road when a 2008 Ford Ranger pickup heading westbound partially left the asphalt portion of the roadway and entered the gravel shoulder, he said.

“The vehicle then swerved back onto the asphalt, crossing the roadway and entering the opposite ditch where it struck a large tree,” he said.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that road and weather conditions were not contributing factors to this collision,” Thiessen said.

Both occupants died at the scene.

The names of the two people were not released.
