Man held over arson at Nanaimo home

Police think fire at this home was arson.

NANAIMO, B.C. – A 47-year-old man is in custody following a suspected arson early Tuesday morning at a home in the 900-block of Milton Street.

A 21-year-old woman suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital for treatment and released. Two others in the home got out safely and were uninjured.

“Based on information obtained at scene by our members , officers attended to a secondary residence and arrested a 47-year-old male for uttering threats. The fire is deemed suspicious in nature and further charges my be laid” said Nanaimo RCMP spokesman Const. Gary O’Brien.
