One killed, one injured in pedestrian accident

SURREY, B.C. – A 29-year-old man has died and another man is in hospital after both were struck by a cube van while they were crossing the street mid-block on Friday evening.

Police said the accident occurred on 104 Avenue just east of 120 Street at around 7 p.m.

“Both pedestrians were crossing mid block when struck. (Jay Walking) The two pedestrians had been struck by an east bound one ton cube van,” said a police statement.

One man was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead. Another man, 36, is recovering in hospital.

Police have not said if the men were together or simply crossing the street at the same time. No names have been released.

Cops remind the public that it is dangerous to cross the road at locations other than crosswalks.

Police are asking witnesses to come forward in this case.
