Woman faces life sentence for setting dancer on fire
VAN NUYS, California – A 28-year-old Tarzana woman will likely face a life sentence for dousing a dancer with gasoline and setting her alight.
Rianne Celine Theriault-Odom was found guilty of two felony counts but was found not guilty of attempted murder. She will be sentenced on March 4.
The woman was convicted by a jury of aggravated mayhem and torture for throwing gasoline on female dancer and setting her ablaze one year ago.
Deputy District Attorney Marcus Musante said the brutal attack occurred on Feb. 5, 2009.
The suspect was having an argument with a 27-year-old dancer outside the Babes & Beer nightclub at 18454 Oxnard St. at about 1:30 a.m. where the victim worked.
“Theriault-Odom doused the victim with gasoline from a soda bottle she was holding and set her on fire. The victim was badly burned over her entire body,” he said.
Theriault-Odom faces life in prison when she is sentenced March 4 by Superior Court Judge Susan Speer.
