Two dead in Edmonton car dealership shooting
EDMONTON – Two men are dead and one is in critical condition after a shooting incident at an Edmonton Chrysler dealership.
Reports said a suspended employee returned to the service area and shot dead parts manager Garth Radons and critically wounded another employee of Great West Chrysler located 178 Street and Stony Plain Road.
The shooter was identified as Dave Burns. Police have not said if he turned the gun on himself after firing on two of his victims.
The third person caught up in the early Friday morning shooting was not identified. Burns was suspended from his job but was scheduled to return to work as a service foreman.
Edmonton Police said the victim was in critical condition early Saturday.
“Autopsies on the deceased victim and suspect from this morning’s shooting at a west-end car dealership have been scheduled for Monday,” said police. “The second victim remains in hospital in critical condition.”
Edmonton media outlets reported Radons was the husband of an Edmonton Police Service member. The police officer was at the scene of the shooting moments after police received a call at 7:45 a.m.
“The EPS received a call at approximately 7:45 a.m. about shots being fired at the dealership. When officers arrived at the scene, they found three injured males. It was determined that two of the males were deceased. The third male was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains for treatment,” police said in a statement.
“Investigators believe one of the deceased males is the suspect in the shooting,” said Insp. Denis Jubinville. “Several witnesses who were at the dealership at the time of the shooting have been interviewed and the investigation continues.”
