By Karen Mullins

TORONTO – Volunteers were out in force in Toronto’s China Town to spread the word about stem cell donations.

They told people passing by that they could save lives.

More than 20 people with Chinese ancestry are waiting for stem cell donors in Canada. The weekend’s drive was to encourage people of all ethnic backgrounds to join the OneMatch registry.

Sunni, one of the volunteers said that OneMatch is looking for volunteers between the age of 17 and 50.

In Canada there is a huge need for donors. Most stem cells used for Canadian patients have to come from international sources.
