Kamloops RCMP officer faces impaired driving charge

KAMLOOPS, B.C. – Cops say citizens don’t learn the dangers of impaired driving – now it seem B.C. cops are not learning either.

The latest cop to run into trouble with the law is a Kamloops RCMP officer who flipped his personal car upside down and a test showed he was driving with more booze in his blood than is allowed by the law.

“On April 3, 2010, shortly before 1. a.m., members of the Kamloops RCMP attended a single vehicle collision in the 1900-block of Lodgepole Drive. It appeared, from the preliminary investigation of the incident, that the lone occupant of the vehicle had driven off the road and hit protection poles surrounding a hydro box,” said Const. Cheryl Bush.

“The vehicle then flipped onto its roof. The driver sustained no injuries as a result of this incident,” she said.

“Investigators determined that the driver of the vehicle was an off-duty RCMP member currently posted in Kamloops and that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was allegedly impaired by alcohol,” she added.

“The member subsequently provided the required breath samples and is facing charges of impaired driving and driving while over .08. The accident involved the member’s personal vehicle,” she said.

All circumstances surrounding the incident will be forwarded to Crown Counsel for charge assessment, Bush added.

“The 29-year-old member will make a first court appearance on April 26, 2010 in Kamloops.”

The man has been a cop for nine years.

He has been reassigned to administrative duties and an internal investigation has begun.

  1. this is getting me worried.
Who is going to protect us from the cops?
20 taser deaths later.and multiple shooting deaths.
When are the cops going to shoot me or you?
I find it good that this cop was caught.
At a salary of $75,000 a year, it is a good incentive to become a cop.
It takes me two years to earn that kind of money.
Just because you have been a cop for 9 years does not mean you are any good at it.
I know people who do not paid a cent, and do more for the nations security than the paid cop ever did.
I am beginning to believe the the RCMP is just an extension of the welfare system.

  2. Wow talk about young and not only that he’s been a cop for 9 yrs?” He must see a lot of things happen and mabe he has some underlying issue’s he has to deal with!” I bet he regrets it now!” I hope he get’s the help that he desperately needs. It’s horrible he was drinking and driving too, he could have killed someone or himself!”
