Highway 16 crash victims named

PRINCE GEORGE – Two young women have perished in a tragic head-on collision on Highway 16 east of Vanderhoof, B.C.

They were identified as 17-year-old
Jasmine Caroline Wotherspoon and 19-year-old Brittney Amber humeniuk, both of Prince George.

RCMP say the two women were in a vehicle which was west-bound on Highway 16 at around 9:13 p.m. Thursday when their car crossed the centre line and was struck by a five-ton truck heading in the opposite direction.

“Both women were pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the truck were taken to St. John Hospital in Vanderhoof, but were not seriously injured,” said Const. Chris Brown.

“The police continue their investigation, and although the exact cause of the crash has not yet been determined, speed is considered a factor in the crash,” Brown said.

The investigation continues.
