Abigail Andrews: Police finish landfill search for clues

Do you know anything about where Abigail is?

FORT ST. JOHN – RCMP have launched a fresh appeal for information about pregnant 28-year-old woman Abigail Andrews who has no been missing for 13 days.

RCMP still say they are treating the case as a mssing person file but admit it is uncharacteristic for Abigail, who is three-months pregnant, to disappear without telling anyone in her family.

Const. Craig Douglass said the disappearance is suspicious and major crime detectives and additional sleuths from E Division North are continuing their search for the mom-to-be.

Abigail was last seen walking from her home in Fort St. John to a friend’s residence during the evening of April 7th, 2010.

According to family members two text messages arrived from her cell phone – but they doubt is she sent them. That make it apparent family members suspect something terrible happened to her.

But friends who are cruising up and down from one city to another plastering missiing posters have not given up hope of finding her alive.

“Based on information received during the investigation, an exhaustive search was conducted at the Fort St. John landfill with the assistance of the BC Coroners Service and a forensic anthropologist,” said Douglass

“The search has been completed and the investigation into Abigail’s disappearance is continuing,” he said. Police have not revealed what they were looking for or whether the objective was to find her cell phone.

“Abigail is three months pregnant and her disappearance is out of character for her. Abigail is six feet tall, 200 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. She has a tattoo of tribal art on her lower back. A Facebook page has been established to assist with locating Abigail,” said Douglas.

Police are requesting that anyone who may have information about Abigail, her disappearance or her present whereabouts, contact the Fort St. John RCMP at 250-787-8140.
