Crash in mystery location cracks Dianne Watts’ rib
By Salim Jiwa
SURREY, B.C. – Mayor Dianne Watts was admitted to hospital on Friday night for injuries suffered in a car crash in south Surrey, her press officer Tara Foslien said on Saturday night.
Foslien said the mayor suffered a cracked rib and was treated and released from hospital.
“She is home now and she’ll be fine,” Foslien said in an interview. “She suffered a cracked rib.”
Foslien, like the cops, would only say the accident occurred in South Surrey – and neither her nor a Staff-Sgt. at Surrey RCMP were prepared to give out a location.
In fact, when pressed to provide an exact location as opposed to just stating the crash occurred in South Surrey, the Surrey RCMP Duty NCO said: “I think our conversation is over, Sir.”
When asked why he could not state the exact location, his reponse was that he could only state it was in South Surrey – even though he indicated he knew the street address.
Why cops would not release that information is unknown.
Police did say two cars were involved.
One vehicle was being driven by Watts with her husband in the passenger seat. The other car had a lone occupant.
All three were taken to hospital for treatment of injuries, according to the cop on duty.
He said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Surrey RCMP have issued no official press release about the incident involving their boss.
