Thiessen says Surrey murder victim was targeted
SURREY, B.C. – A targeted attack has taken the life of a 51-year-old Surrey man who had previous brushes with the law.
Police were called by someone living inside a home in the 300-block of 172 Street at approximately 1:50 a.m. on Saturday.
Sgt. Peter Thiessen said it was a 911 call that summoned police to the scene.
“Uniformed Officers arrived at 2:00am and located a 51-year-old male resident outside the home in distress suffering from significant and severe injuries,” Thiessen said.
“Emergency medical aid was administered and the victim was transported to a local area hospital where he died as a result of his injuries,” he said.
“The investigation has determined that the victims injuries are a result of a homicide and that the victim who is known to police was directly targeted,” Thiessen added.
Thiessen said police are confident they know how the man died but they will not release the cause of death at this time for investigative reasons.
IHIT has taken over the investigation of the murder.
