Kamloops raid nets Canadian army anti-tank rocket
KAMLOOPS, B.C. – A Canadian forces issued anti-tank rocket launcher is part of an arsenal of weapons and ammunition seized by RCMP following a raid on a rural property near Kamloops.
Const. Cheryl Bush said the weapons haul – enough to equip a small army – was seized along with 40,000 rounds of ammunition.
Police also seized heavy duty equipment, drugs and several stolen items.
Police took control of seven rifles, two shotguns, 11 handguns and the Canadian Army anti-tank rocket launcher at the Campbell Creek location.
“The drug seizure amounted to approximately 19 pounds of marijuana in various size packages and smaller amounts of cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine. Also seized was a large amount of sophisticated grow operation equipment,” said Bush.
A 38-year-old male has been arrested in connection with the seizures.
He has no criminal record. Proposed charges may include production of a controlled substance, trafficking of a controlled substance, unsafe storage of firearms and possession of prohibited weapons.
The following items were seized as stolen property and are being investigated as proceeds of crime:
skid steer
backhoe
2005 Corvette
Dodge Durango
dune buggy
Kawasaki quad
Yamaha motorcycle
Polaris snowmobile
