B.C. motorcyclist killed after collision with deer

GRAND FORKS, B.C. – A collision with a deer on Highway 13 has killed a motorcyclist.

Police said the 48-year-old rider was carrying a passenger at the time the bike collided with a deer aoubt 10 kilometres north of Beaverdell. The passenger was transported to Kelowna General Hospital, treated and released.

The accident occurred on Saturday at about 10:10 a.m.

Neither alcohol nor speed were determined to be contributing factors in the tragedy, police said.

“This tragedy underscores the need for the motoring public to always be vigilant on roadways with regards to animals crossing the road,” RCMP Const. Steve Holmes said.
