Prank leaves North Vancouver schoolboy in critical condition

NORTH VANCOUVER – A prank gone wrong has left a a 16-year-old schoolboy in critical condition.

RCMP said he was riding on the bumper of a car on the grounds of Seycove Secondary School on Friday night when he fell off and suffered critical head injuries.

“After riding for a short distance, he fell from the moving vehicle. He sustained head injuries as a result of the fall, and is currently in Lions Gate Hospital listed in critical but stable condition. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor,” said Cpl. Peter DeVries.

“The driver of the vehicle, whom neither the teen nor his friends could identify, left the scene before police could ask him or her any questions about what had happened,” he said.

“Police believe it is possible the driver was unaware that the teen had jumped on to the vehicle. The vehicle was a black, late 90′s Volkswagen Golf.”

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident contact North Vancouver RCMP at (604) 985-1311.
