Victoria-Courtenay VIA train kills boy, 12
COMOX, B.C. A 12-year-old boy was found dead on train tracks shortly after his father lost sight of him for a few minutes while working in bush in the Comox Valley.
Const. Tammy Douglas said the boy was run over by a VIA train.
“The boy was working in the bush with his father shortly before the accident. He went missing for a short time and was then located deceased on the tracks,” said Douglas of the tragic accident.
“The Via Rail train was northbound for Courtenay at the time of the accident,” she added.
RCMP and the Coroner are investigating and victim services are trying to help the child’s grieving family. She said the family is from the Comox Valley and has asked for privacy through the difficult time.
