Abbotsford shooting death likely drug related

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – One person is dead but another survived a shooting incident early Wednesday morning.

Const. Ian MacDonald said police were called to the scene near Polar Avenue and Townline Road by a complainant who reported shots fired and the sound of a vehicle leaving the area at high speed.

“Upon arrival, Abbotsford Police located two individuals and a vehicle still on scene. One of the two individuals was pronounced dead, the other individual was not injured,” said MacDonald.

The area is just on the edge of town and the time of the shooting, at 3 a.m., has prompted police to investigate the possibility of drug involvement.

“This is certainly not a random incident,” said MacDonald.

Police have not released further details.
