‘Evening Before’ Emmy party draws celebrities


CENTURY CITY – The entertainment industry came out full-force on Saturday as Emmy nominees and presenters joined hundreds of celebrities and other members of the television community for the annual “Evening Before” pre-Emmy party to benefit the Motion Picture & Television Fund.

Among the celebrities who attended were George Clooney, Jon Hamm, Ryan Seacrest, Anna Paquin & Stephen Moyer, John Krasinski & Emily Blunt, Ty Burrell, Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson, Christina Applegate, Lea Michele, Mark Salling, Ricky Gervais, Matthew Morrison, Elisabeth Moss, January Jones, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Julianna Margulies, Sharon Stone, Neil Patrick Harris, Edie Falco, Kristen Bell, Sally Field, Bryan Cranston, LL Cool J, Julie Bowen, Kathy Griffin, Mariska Hargitay, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, Alan Cumming, J.J. Abrams, Jerry Bruckheimer, Sofia Vergara, John Slattery, Andy Samberg and Christine Baranski.

“Our sincere gratitude and thanks goes out to our sponsors, who continue to support our efforts every year, as well as the television studios, networks, talent agencies and individuals who came out to support MPTF,” said Ken Scherer, CEO of the Motion Picture & Television Fund Foundation.

“I am always deeply touched by the generosity of spirit in the conversations I have with those who attend these events and the compassion they have for all those MPTF helps each year, from providing healthcare to helping pay rent and buying food for people at times of crisis.”

The theme of the event was an end-of-summer barbecue, with Wolfgang Puck working the grill to serve up summer favorites along with delicious desserts, such as peach shortcakes and s’mores, and specialty drinks that brought cool tropical breezes through the streets of Century City.

Michelle Pesce, one of Hollywood’s hottest up-and-coming DJs, served up the evening’s tunes.

“MPTF has a long tradition of caring for its own, and tonight is just one example of the support and commitment of the industry and its leadership for the mission of MPTF and all the programs, services and financial assistance it provides to more than 60,000 industry members every year,” said Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation and Chairman of the Motion Picture & Television Fund Foundation.

This was the fourth annual “Evening Before,” which was designed after the highly successful “Night Before,” held annually on the night before the Academy Awards® for the past eight years also to benefit the Motion Picture & Television Fund.
