Veteran Ontario policeman charged with telling lies in court


PEEL, ON – A 20-year-veteran of the Peel Regional Police’s internal investigation service has been arrested and charged with perjury, obstruction of justice and breach of trust.

Constable Warren Williams was arrest’s brought an appeal for area residents not to lose their faith in cops.

Williams faces a total of six counts but cops say it has nothing to do with an earlier drug investigation.

“While the investigation with respect to Constable Williams has concluded, additional aspects of this investigation are still on-going. As a result, no further information will be provided at this time,” said cops.

Deputy Chief Paul Tetzlaff said, “I want to assure the residents of Peel that the men and women of Peel Regional Police remain committed to providing you with the high level of service that you deserve and expect from us. Your safety and protection remains our greatest priority. Rest assured, our service delivery will continue to be professional and transparent.”

Williams will appear in court in Brampton on Nov. 4.

He had been suspended in June.
