Calgary mom flees home saying son was trying to kill her with a sword

CALGARY –  A frantic mother fled her apartment and called police telling them her son was trying to kill her with a sword.

Police said they were called at 3.30 p.m. on Saturday by the woman.

“Police contained the apartment and attempted to negotiate with the suspect to surrender. After a few hours, Tactical Team and Negotiators were called in and again attempted to persuade the suspect to surrender. At about 9:15 pm, Tactical Options were used to successfully resolve this incident.”

“The 35-year-old suspect surrendered to Police and a sword was recovered in the apartment. Charges are pending as police continue to investigate. No injuries were reported.”
