Church activist charged with Toronto sexual assaults on girls


TORONTO – A 70-year-old man who was active with a community church has been charged with historic sexual assaults that occurred between 1975 and 1982.

Police said they have charged Jon James Maillard, of Toronto, with two counts of indecent act on a female and a count of sexual assault.

“The accused was an active member of the West Rouge Community Church, in the Port Union Road/401 area,” police said in a statement.

Police believe there may be other victims.
