Arson suspect charged with murder
WATERLOO – A Waterloo man was charged Monday with the murder of Sandra Jo Nash, 57, who was found dead on January 31 in a house set on fire at 2861 Logan Avenue, Waterloo.
The accused man Glen Dean Jackson, 50, also of 2861 Logan Avenue, Waterloo, Iowa was arrested the following day charged with arson and has been held since at Black Hawk County Jail.
An autopsy performed on Nash ruled that she had died from injuries to the head caused by a bunt instrument, possibly a hammer, found near her body.
Jackson had a large amount of blood and gasoline on his clothing. During questioning by police, he admitted to arguing with Nash and knocking her to the floor.
Jackson remains in detention at Black Hawk County where his bail has been set at $1 million.
