Three men charged with illegal sale of 1,700 counterfeit DVD’s
DURHAM – Three men have been charged with the illegal sale and distribution at the Dairy Way convenience store on Midtown Drive in Oshawa of 1,700 fraudulent DVD’s, among them many Hollywood movies recently released to the theatres, after police seized them and took a sample to members of the Canada Motion Picture Association where they were analysed and confirmed as counterfeit copies.
The arrested men charged with fraud are Suman Tharmatajah, 32, of Ritchie Avenue in Ajax; the store owner Thanendran Parameshwaran, also 32, of Carolbreen Square in Scarborough and Chandrakumar Raveenthiran, 30, of Richmond Park Boulevard, Scarborough.
All three have been released on condition that they remain in town.
