Four teens injured in crashed stolen van

DURHAM – Four male teens were seriously injured Sunday when the driver of the van they had stolen lost control of the vehicle, ran off the road and collided into a tree in Ajax.

The collision occurred at about 4.46 am Sunday near Lake Driveway West in Ajax, minutes after they had left a house party.

Three of the injured teens were taken to a local hospital for medical treatment and two were later transferred to a Toronto area hospital.

The fourth injured victim, the 16-year-old driver of the stolen van fled the scene before police arrived.

Cops found him later and after receiving medical treatment he was arrested and charged with its theft , careless driving and driving without a licence. He was then released with conditions.
