Two skiers missing in Kootenay Pass
VANCOUVER, B.C. – A helicopter and avalanche technicians were dispatched early Tuesday morning to search for two skiers missing since Monday afternoon in the Kootenay Pass area, B.C after Nelson RCMP decided that it was unsafe to send a night search and rescue team to look for the missing couple.
The skiers, a man and a woman from Nelson, B.C., were skiing in the back-country towards Ripple Ridge Cabin at the top of Kootenay Pass.
They were due to have returned by 4:30 p.m. Monday.
No avalanches were reported in the Kootenay Pass area.
Salmo RCMP confirmed that their vehicle was found in the parking ground at Kootenay Pass Summit.
Further details, they say, are to be released later Tuesday afternoon.
