Missing Fort Macleod couple found safe and well.

VANCOUVER – A missing couple from Fort Macleod who had been feared stranded in a remote part of the Fernie area ,B.C. was found safe and well Tuesday afternoon.

Jacob and Anja Oosterwijk were located in the Bull River, Sulphur Creek area.

Apart from an injury to his knee Jacob Oosterwijk and his wife were in good spirits.

A local logging trucker notified the Elk Valley RCMP of the couple after receiving a radio transmissione from Anja Oosterwijk in a remote area of the Bull River near Sulphur Creek, between Fernie and Cranbrook BC saying that she her husband had gotten stuck in their vehicle, and had hiked to an area cabin equipped with a radio.

A police dog released into the area found the couple’s abandoned vehicle, and an aerial search led police to the cabin to which the couple had hiked.

A helicopter evacuated the couple to the Sparwood Medical; Facility where they were held for observation, and later that night discharged and reunited with their family.
