Man tried to kill wife, then committed suicide

OTTAWA – Cops investigating the suspicious death of a Stittsville man last week believe that he tried to kill his wife and then committed suicide.

The turn in the investigation, led by the Major Crime Section, occurred after the dead man’s wife, 46-year-old Theresa Moreau Lefebvre, died in hospital Wednesday morning.

On April 11th police received a 911 call from a distraught man at about 9:30 a.m. from a residence on Hartsmere Drive. When cops arrived at the house they found a woman in a critical condition.

At about 1:00pm a man, later identified as her husband, Peter Lefebvre,43, was found dead in a wooded area 3 km from the home.

Ottawa police responded to a distress call from the same residence in March, prior to its tragic end.

Lefebvre’s family have donated their daughter’s organs to help save the lives of others, and ask the media to respect their privacy during their period of mourning.
