Man shot dead may be connected to gang crime

RICHMOND, B.C. – Police have released the name of the man shot dead on Tuesday outside an apartment complex at the intersection Katsura Street and Ferndale Road as 36-year-old Richmond resident, Justine Nethaniel PO.

His assailant fled the scene by car.

PO did not have a criminal record, but the shooting appears to be related to unconfirmed gang or organised crime, say police.

“The area where this homicide occurred is a highly populated residential area. To have a shooting occur in broad day light in the midst of innocent bystanders is unacceptable. IHIT is asking the public to assist investigators in keeping communities safe by coming forward with any information you may have about this brazen and selfish act,” said IHIT media relations spokesperson Sgt. Jennifer Pound.

Anyone with information regarding this homicide or who observed a suspicious person or vehicle in the area to contact the IHIT tiplines by calling 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihittipline@rcmp-grc.gc.ca
