SURREY, B.C. – A 23-year-old woman has been arrested for questioning following the murder of another woman at a residence in Surrey.

Sgt. Jennifer Pound of IHIT said RCMP received a call just before 5 p.m. on Thursday that a resident of a home in the 10600-block of 138 Street was in need of medical help.

“Surrey RCMP, along with the BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) attended the home and located the female. BCAS provided medical assistance however, the female was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Pound said early Friday morning.

“The victim appeared to have met with foul play and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called in.”

“Investigators have arrested a 23 year old female who is currently in custody,” said Pound.

“Investigators have yet to determine a motive but believe the victim and the suspect know each other. It is too early to assume what occurred and investigators will be working throughout the night in an attempt to clarify details and answer the many questions that arise in the initial stages of a homicide,” she said.

“We are asking anyone with information regarding this homicide to contact the IHIT tiplines by calling 1-877-551-IHIT(4448) or by email at ihittipline@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.”
