20-year-old woman to face charges in Pickering collision

DURHAM – A 20-year-old woman from Port Perry experienced minor injuries when her car collided with a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction and rolled into a ditch on Brock Road north of Whitevale Road in Pickering last Friday evening.

The injured woman was driving a grey Chevrolet Optra when she lost control of her vehicle and swerved into the opposite lane of the road, colliding with an oncoming white Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck.

She had to be freed from her trapped car and airlifted to St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto where she was treated for minor injuries, and later released.

The pickup truck also rolled over, landing on its side, on the west shoulder of Brock Road. Its 48-year-old driver miraculously emerged unscathed from the force of the collision.

Brock Road was closed for several hours while police from the Traffic Services Branch gathered evidence and cleared the road of the damaged vehicles.

The driver of the Optra faces charges involving traffic offenses.
