Coast-to-coast drug trafficking ring busted
NANAIMO, B.C. – A 46-year-old Nanaimo man has been arrested on drug charges connected to a marihuana drug trafficking ring with ties to Nanaimo and Newfoundland.
The suspect, Fernando Cui Galan, was taken into custody following a search on May 16 of a business premise in the 2200 block of McGarrigle Road in Nanaimo and has been charged with possession of drugs and drug trafficking.
Galan will stand trial at the Newfoundland Provincial Court in St. John’s.
His arrest ends a year-long investigation into a large-scale drug trafficking ring by the St. John’s RCMP Drug Unit`in which huge shipments of marihuana were concealed in machinery parts and transported from Nanaimo to St. John’s.
Further charges are expected in the continuing investigation.
