Oshawa man suffers critical head injuries in car park assault
DURHAM – A 38-year-old Oshawa man was admitted to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto over the weekend with serious head injuries after he was assaulted in a car park.
The assault occurred last Saturday at about 9:20 p.m. at the car park on Richmond Street near Simcoe Street North in Oshawa. Police found a man unconscious on the ground with serious head injuries. An ambulance was called to take him to Sunnybrook Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
Police have determined from video surveillance footage of the car park that the victim was pushed by a suspect identified as Bernie Lecoure, aged 38, of Oshawa following a struggle in the car park.
Lecoure has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault, and is being held for a bail hearing.
