Cops seize $1.5 million in drugs, guns and cash

TORONTO – A 27-year-old man was arrested Sunday on 82 charges of firearms offenses, large scale drug trafficking and money laundering.

The charges against Bennett Vuong of Yorkville Avenue, Toronto, were laid at Old City Hall Court yesterday after searches by the Organised Crime Enforcement Gun and Gang Task Force were conducted at his home, and at another apartment on Huron Street.

Cops seized $175,000 in cash stashed in Vuong’s vehicle and drug making equipment at a search of his home.

Eleven firearms, including 7 handguns, an AK?47, a sawed?off shotgun, a rifle, high capacity magazines and ammunition were seized at the Huron residence, along with a large quantity of drugs including ecstasy, cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin, crystal meth, GHB, marijuana, ketamine, hashish, Oxycontin, valued at more than $1.5 million. Crystal meth alone was worth $800,000.

Additional unknown substances were sent for testing.
